TIIDE Partners Meeting Program

CDC’s Terrorism, Injuries, Information, Dissemination, Exchange (TIIDE) project was established to address the urgent need to develop and exchange information about injuries from terrorism. That information includes community strategies to improve public safety, public health, clinical management and healthcare system preparedness in the event of mass casualty events.

Explosive devices are terrorists’ weapons of choice. In an instant, an explosion can wreck havoc- producing numerous casualties with complex, technically challenging injuries not commonly seen after natural disasters such as floods or hurricanes. Health care and public health specialists anticipate profound problems in adequately caring for the resulting surge of victims.

Traditionally acute care, emergency medical, and public health systems are poorly integrated. Relationships among organizations must be forged and strengthened to improve public health and safety, clinical management and health care system preparedness. TIIDE and CDC support the collaboration of acute medical care, trauma and emergency medical services organizations in order to effectively respond to mass casualty events resulting from terrorism.
