Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases
This two-day course provides the most current information available in the constantly changing field of immunization. It offers a comprehensive overview on immunization, general recommendations, vaccine storage, handling and administration. It discusses the vaccines currently recommended to protect against vaccine-preventable diseases. The course also highlights one or more emerging issue(s) in the field. Agents of Bioterrorism: Sentinel Training for Clinical Laboratories
This one-day, advanced-level program will provide an overview of the clinical laboratory’s role in the presumptive identification of primary agents of bioterrorism including anthrax, plague, tularemia, brucellosis, glanders, and melioidosis. Laboratory demonstrations will outline the microbiology of these agents so that participants can recognize the culture, staining and biochemical characteristics. The safety implications of handling suspect organisms in clinical isolates and culture and suspect toxins will be emphasized. Policies related to chain-of-custody specimens will be reviewed.

Implementing Biosurveillance and Environmental Health Response
Tarrant County will introduce the concept of a public health community of practice in which biosurveillance data is gathered and shared between key stakeholders and public health in a comprehensive, collaborative, rigorous manner. Twin Cities Metro APC will share their expertise in building environmental health emergency response capacity. Potential roles and responsibilities for environmental health professionals will be discussed and two environmental health emergency response plans will be reviewed.

North Carolina Center for Public Health Preparedness Training Web Site
The site offers free short Internet-based trainings on public health preparedness topics such as disease surveillance, basic epidemiology, bioterrorism, and new/emerging disease agents. Trainings address emergency readiness competencies plus core public health and epidemiology competencies and offer free continuing education credits.

Emergency Preparedness and Response Fundamentals: Training for Environmental Health Professionals
This training material was developed for Environmental Health Professionals (EHP) in Minnesota and across the country as part of the National Association of Community Health Centers' (NACCHO) Advanced Practice Centers program The initial training program consists of two modules. It has been designed for working professionals to use online. The material in both modules addresses basic environmental health concepts - concepts that are important to front line staff with years of experience and to those who are new in the field. For some EHP, this will be a good refresher session and for others it will be new information. For all, these courses are designed to increase awareness of the EHP role in preparedness and disaster response.
