Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication Course (CERC) On Demand Training Courses
Crisis & Emergency Risk Communication Course (CERC)
This course introduces the principles and practical tools of crisis and emergency risk communication (CERC). CERC addresses a number of topics critical to successful public, partner, and stakeholder communication during crisis and emergencies including risk communication, issues management, crisis communication, and disaster communication. CERC is an attempt by public health professionals to provide information that allows individuals, stakeholders, and entire communities to make the best possible decisions for their well-being during a crisis or emergency. CERC includes communicating to these groups regarding decisions made by response organizations within nearly impossible time constraints. CERC principles teach us to accept the imperfect nature of choices as the situation evolves.
Crisis & Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) Module
CERC Pandemic Influenza
Emergencies are chaotic and to avoid confusion and reduce uncertainty, all official messages communicated to the public should be accurate, consistent, relevant, and empathetic.
Communicating to concerned members of the community will be a paramount responsibility and the right messages delivered at the right time by the right person could save lives. This course will give leaders and communication professionals the best approaches and tools to exercise quality communication before, during, and after a pandemic.
This model of training has been highly successful since CDC presented the first basic CERC training in September 2002, which continues to be taught internationally and nationally.
The course is designed to provide vital communication concepts and tools to assist in preparing for and responding to a severe influenza pandemic in the United States.
